Health Care Reform, an LMTs prospective
I recently read an article in the massagetoday.com magazine which is mailed out. Regarding health care reform and making alternative medicine a front line provider of health care in which we try to keep people healthy instead of reacting to emergencies. What a novel idea keep people healthy and lower the costs of health care.
After taking a step back I would have to agree with the writer that out health care system as it stands rewards providers for praying on the injured and sick. It does nothing to try and keep people healthy and prevent injury or illness.
Is this just a pipe dream of making LMTs, DCs, OMDs and acupuncturists on the front line of the health care system. Could you been doing maintenance on a patient to keep the body healthy rather than being reactive to injury and illness. Could a practitioner be rewarded for keeping a patient healthy rather than having to be bed ridden?
Turning health care on it head. Just a pipe dream or something that our association should lobby for in Congress.
