Cartilage cells are called Chrondrocytes. No blood vessels are found in cartilage which makes repair a more lengthly process that most other tissues of the body.
Bone forming cells are called osteoblasts and bone re-sorbing celles are called osteoclasts. The process of bone formation is called endrochondrial osfication. The cartilage between the epiphyses and diaphysis that allows growth of the bone is called the epiphyseal plate. When there is no longer bone growth, what remains is called the epiphyseal line.
Osteoporosis is the bone pathology that occurs most frequently in elderly white females. The division of the appendicular skeleton that includes the clavicles and scapula is called the appendicular skeleton. Whereas the division of the skeleon that includes the head and trunk is called the axial skeleton. The only joint in the upper skeleton whete the axial and appendicular skeletons joint or articulate is called the sternoclavicular joint.
