Tissues of the human body

There are four types of tissue Epithelial, connective, muscle, and nervous an easy way to remember this is the acronym CMEN. Gila and neuron cells are tissues of this system. Nervous tissue is for Rapid communication system and control, glia and neuron cells are tissues of this system.

Gila are called the nerve glue they are nervous system cells and are supporting tissue for the neurons. Neurons are conducting units which can be dendrites and axons. A dendrite is a structure that takes information to the neuron cell body and an axon is a structure that carries information away from the neuron cell of the body.

The three types of muscle tissue are Skeletal, Cardiac, and smooth. Skeletal muscle is striated and voluntary muscle tissue which is used to move bones. Cardiac muscle is striated and involuntary muscle tissue. Cardiac muscle also has dark bands called intercalated discs. Smooth and involuntary tissue can be blood vessels, hallow organs, intestines, bronchials, etc. Epithelial tissue of the body is a type of tissue that is packed tightly, little or no matrix, avascular, little or no inter-cellular material.  Epithelial tissue function is secretion, absorption, and protection.

Epithelial tissue can also be broken down into four parts they are Squamous, Cuboidal, Columnar, transitional. Squamous epithelial tissue is tissue that is flat and scale-like, Columnar tissue is tissue that is longer than wide, and transitional tissue is it varies in shape and can stretch.

Connective tissue is the most abundant in the human body and is widely distributed tissue it also functions as connective and supports the body. There are seven types of connective tissue in the body they are meet by another acronymDAB BACH which stands for Areolar, Adipose, Fibrous connective, bone, cartilage, blood, and homiletic. Areolar is the most abundant type of connective tissue followed by adipose or fat tissue. Fibrous connective tissue includes collagen for tendons which is strong while ad flexible, It connects muscle to bone and is for strength and flexibility yet it does not stretch.  Bone has a calcified matrix is hard and rigid. Bone has a matrix which includes osteons or bone cells.  Cartilage is hard but flexible has the consistency of firm plastic or gristle like gelatin. Cartilage is made of of Chondrocyte cells within the body. Blood is also considered connective tissue and has  a liquid matrix which is called plasma. Finally, hemopoetic connective tissue is what forms red blood cells and lymphatic system cells.

For a massage therapist though not to forget the ligaments which connect bone to bone and the tendons which connect muscle to bone are very important types of connective tissue in the human body.
